How Australia GST is calculated
Adding GST: multiply the net price by 1.1. A AUD 100 item becomes AUD 110.00 once 10% GST is added.
Removing GST: divide the GST-inclusive total by 1.1. From AUD 110.00 inclusive, the net is AUD 100 and the GST portion is AUD 10.00.
The standard rate is 10%, but reduced or zero rates can apply to particular goods and services. For anything you file or charge, confirm the current rate and rules with the relevant Australia tax authority.
