Frequently asked questions
- How do I extract text from an image or PDF?
- Upload a photo, scan, or PDF, click Extract text, and the recognised text appears in an editable box you can copy or download as .txt.
- Does the OCR upload my file?
- No. Recognition runs on-device with WebAssembly, so your image or PDF isn't uploaded to read it.
- Which languages are supported?
- English is supported today. The first run downloads the English language model, then it's cached for reuse.
- Does it work on scanned PDFs?
- Yes. Choose the page you want and run OCR on it; switch pages and run again for multi-page documents.
- Is the OCR tool free?
- Yes, free with no sign-up. Everything runs privately in your browser.
