AI Writing Checker
Paste an email, essay or post and see, highlighted in place, the habits that make writing read as machine-made: stock phrases like "delve into", chatbot hedges like "it's important to note", stacked "Moreover… Furthermore…" transitions, "not X, but Y" formulas, heavy em-dash use, bold-label bullet lists and sentences that all run the same length. It checks style, not authorship, and runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
The AI Writing Checker highlights the habits that make text read as machine-written — stock phrases, chatbot hedging, stacked transitions, formula sentences, em dashes and flat sentence rhythm — and gives an overall read. It is a style checker: it shows patterns, it doesn't identify who or what wrote the text.
Frequently asked questions
- How accurate is it?
- We measured it on HC3, a public dataset of human and ChatGPT answers to the same questions, using answers it was not tuned on. It flagged 59% of ChatGPT answers and 8% of human answers; the strongest verdict fired on 15% of ChatGPT answers and 2% of human ones. Short factual answers have fewer tells, so it catches less there.
- Can it prove that something was written by AI?
- No, and no tool can reliably do that. People use these phrases too, and lightly edited AI text may show none of them. Use it to make your own writing read better, not to judge someone else's.
- What makes writing sound like AI?
- The most common signs are advisory hedges ("it's important to note", "consult a professional", "a variety of factors"), stock vocabulary ("delve into", "a testament to", "seamless"), sentences opened with Moreover/Furthermore/Additionally, "it's not just X, it's Y" formulas, frequent em dashes, bold-label bullet lists and sentences of very similar length.
- Is my text uploaded?
- No. The check runs in your browser with JavaScript; what you paste is never sent to a server.
- How do I make AI text sound more human?
- Cut the hedges and stock phrases the checker highlights, vary sentence length, and say things plainly. To do it automatically while keeping facts, names and numbers intact, meraGPT's Restyler 1 rewrites model output so it reads like a person wrote it.
